Video of Plot

Here is a video clip of the plot and Lennin planting some tomatoes!!! Yeay!

Planting!

Lennin and I bought some little organic seedlings from this lady who started a seedling company with her daughter. They were very nice people, and their plants are great! We bought two kinds of squash, zucchini, watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, and a Kale! It is great because they start all their seeds from Seeds of Change, which is really hard to find growers who do that!! Here are some pictures of the plot as we plant:

Work In Progress

Little by little the plot is evolving! We got a whole palate of broken brick from Home Depot that they were just going to throw away for 5 DOLLARS! I was so excited - I am using it to make a pathway. I love taking broken things that no one wants and making them useful and beautiful =)

The Rototiller From Hell...

To get the weeds off of our plot, we decided to rent a rototiller. We thought that it would be a nice, fast way to jump start our plot and get it ready for growing - WRONG!! Boy, was that one of the worst ideas I have had in a while!! Just everything about that day went wrong. First the stupid thing kept leaking gas and it kept stalling! Then the ground was too hard and it wasn't tilling (it was my bright idea not to wet it before hand...)!! Also, I couldn't even hold the dumb thing so Lennin tried all by himself and it was pulling him all around! Haha (well, its funny looking back on it but it wasn't very funny then!!). Then when we went to go take it back, all the weeds were SO tangled into the blades that we couldn't get them out. It was like a giant matted ball of weeds! We spent almost 45 minutes trying to get the weeds off the blades and finally gave up. All in all, it was a waste of three hours, and we pretty much had to go back and do it all by hand!! Horrible....

The BOX

This is us putting some eco friendly insulation inside the BOX, which is what Lennin uses to sprout the seedlings before we put them out in the plot (or on the porch). Yes, I built it. And yes, it sits in the middle of our living room. I guess thats what I get for loving a gardener...!! =)

The Plot - BEFORE

This is the garden plot as we got it - What a mess!! We definitely had our work cut out for us...! First things first, we had to get all those WEEDS out!!
